New York, NY-- On January 29th, 2006 Little Steven’s Underground Garage will hit yet another monumental mark when it will broadcast its 200th episode. Being honored on this momentous occasion will be Andrew Loog Oldham, a man Little Steven calls “one of the greatest living treasures in the history of Rock and Roll.”
Oldham’s breadth of experience includes working as a tour publicist for Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Chris Montez, and Bob Dylan as well as working the PR for the Beatles early on in their career. More importantly, he was not only co-manager of the Rolling Stones but produced their first seven albums. Most recently, he has written two volumes of an acclaimed biography, Stoned and 2Stoned.
As always, the 200th episode’s playlist will feature the world’s coolest music including Ray Davies, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Donovan, The Strangeloves, early Rod Stewart, and the Rolling Stones.
And the best new music from the Novaks (Newfoundland), the Vacancies (Cleveland), Zombina & The Skeletones (Liverpool), The Greenhornes (Cincinnati) and the very popular new Strokes album (New York).
From 20 affiliates at its debut in 2001, Little Steven’s Underground Garage now broadcasts to one million listeners on 140 stations in 197 markets in the U.S. with affiliates in Singapore, Copenhagen, Rome, and Stockholm.
The show also airs on 45 other stations around the world via Voice of America and will debut in the UK on the BBC in Spring 2006.
