Rolling Rock and Roll Show Rolls into October

Dates and Lineup for Second Leg of Little Steven's Underground Garage's First National Tour Confirmed

With the first leg of the “musical extravaganza” (San Diego Union Tribune) that is Little Steven’s Underground Garage presents the Rolling Rock and Roll Show over, a fresh set of rock ‘n’ roll all-stars are taking over the stage during the next leg of the unprecedented, “raw, rambunctious” (Hollywood Reporter) three-month carnival. The lineup for the October dates will feature veteran rockers the Romantics, Shadows of Knight, and new favorites the Charms, who will appear with two different regional bands at each of the 20 revisited venues.

In addition, separate from the Rolling Rock and Roll Show, Little Steven’s Underground Garage is looking for 1960’s-style Go-Go dancers to join their Garage Girls A Go-Go. Think you’ve got what it takes? Check out the required dance moves and submit an official entry form at: http://www.undergroundgarage.com

Tryouts will be held at designated clubs and bars in the tour cities throughout October, and judges will be looking for dancers who best personify Go-Go style and embody the wholesomely sexy, highly energetic spirit of the Sixties. At the end of the three-month tour, Maureen Van Zandt, director/choreographer of Little Steven’s legendary Garage Girls a Go-Go, will select two lucky dancers to perform with the Girls in New York City for the next Underground Garage TV special. The winners will dance between the sets of some of the greatest Garage bands in the world.

About the bands:
Shadows of Knight: Echoing the sound of the early Beatles and Rolling Stones, Chicago-bred band Shadows of Knight are best known for their 1966 Garage Rock classic “Gloria” and cover of Bo Diddley’s “Oh Yeah” as well as their three other Top 40 hits “Shake,” “Bad Little Woman,” and “I’m Gonna Make You Mine.” In 2005, the band embarked on the “Gloria’s Back!” reunion tour, and continue to record new music.

The Romantics: Formed on Valentine’s Day 1977 in Detroit, the aptly named Romantics initiated the contemporary Garage Rock movement which contrasted completely with the Punk version that existed at the time. Their mega-hit “What I Like About You,” characterizes the band’s driving and upbeat sound, as well as their music’s durability. The Romantics’ fifth album, ‘In Heat’ (1983) was their most successful and included several of their best-known songs, such as “Talking in Your Sleep” and “One in a Million.” In 2003, the band released the critically acclaimed album ‘61/49’ and is currently working on a follow-up album. http://www.romanticsdetroit.com

The Charms: The Boston Globe recently said it best when they described the Charms’ music as “a hedonistic jolt of perpetual adolescence wrapped in garage-bubblegum hooks […].” These power pop punksters’ songs have appeared on the soundtrack for Christmas with the Kranks (produced by Little Steven) and the MTV show Made, as well as in movie trailers for Broken Flowers and The Ice Princess. Their new album Strange Magic will be released in November on Wicked Cool Records.
